HealthCamp Oregon is organizing 2 events during the 3rd week of October in Portland, Oregon. The events will focus on Healthcare, Health IT, the ePatient & Participatory Medicine movement and all-things Healthcare Transformation!

The first event, a panel that will focus on the impact of social media in healthcare, is scheduled for Thursday 10/20. We’re also helping to promote the annual Kaiser Center for Health Research Saward Lecture, scheduled for Friday 10/21. More information on that event can be found below. The second event we’re planning is a HealthCamp unconference, scheduled on Saturday 10/22 and to be held at the offices of Urban Airship. If you’re unfamiliar with either of the previous terms “HealthCamp” or “unconference”, please read on and we’ll fill you in below.

SoMe in Healthcare Panel

The panel event we’re organizing for Thursday 10/20/11 will be hosted by the PDX Social Media Club and Software Association of Oregon. It currently has the working theme “possibilities and pitfalls of social media in healthcare for patients, providers and payors”.

We’re looking for potential sponsors, panelists and attendees for this event. If you are interested or have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll be happy to discuss.

HealthCamp Oregon

HealthCamp Oregon 2011 will occur on Saturday October 22nd, 2011, culminating of 3 days of terrific information around subjects of healthcare. If you’re unfamiliar with unconferences like BarCamp/FooCamp/Wordcamp/etc., HealthCamp Oregon 2011 will be a day of open-space discussions, organized by volunteers including healthcare and tech geeks, with conversation centering around subjects which the attendees bring to the event.

We’re also looking for additional sponsors. We’ve kept the levels very modest because we want to draw a wide range of sponsors as opposed to a few anchors. We also are looking to organizations to help us draw attendees with an interest and passion in the subject matter; it totally makes the experience.

21st Annual Kaiser Saward Lecture

We’re also excited to help promote the 21st annual Kaiser Saward Lecture, which will be hosted at the Gerding Theater in the Pearl Friday October 21st by Kaiser Center for Health Research. Kaiser is also the major underwriter of HealthCamp events and the HealthCamp Foundation.

Christy, Thanks for pointing out this glitch. I usually edit my blog posts in Firefox and have not had compatibility problems with IE or Chrome. Problem should be fixed now for IE users.
