I was happy that the report listed workflow as one of their top concerns. 

Getting medical providers to use healthcare software is much easier when they have a hand in designing it and its workflow (which is probably why so many systems have been developed for each need).   

Often, software developers don&#039;t realize how crucial each second is to that healthcare provider.  

I&#039;ve seen hospitals deploy multi-million dollar software in the Emergency Department - only to find that it was far slower than the previous paper based process.  The trauma room&#039;s medical providers gave the software exactly one try and immediately went back to sending paper forms via messenger.  

If the software developers had seen that trauma room, they would have been horrified at how difficult their software was to use and the results of its lack of usability.

Usability and workflow must be designed into medical software at the planning stage of the project to reduce the chance of something like this happening.</description>
